Disney’s Animal Kingdom
A New Species of Theme Park
As one who grew up with the wonderful and imaginative talents of Walt Disney displayed on my television screen, I was thrilled to receive this writing assignment!
As a lover of all things animal, my anticipation of this adventure knew no bounds! My visit exceeded my expectation in the way only Disney could have done it!

Gatorland
The Alligator Capital of the World
This large reptile, residing in only a few tropical areas of the world, namely the U.S. and China, are quite a different animal for most international visitors to Florida. The Brits, in particular, are fascinated with gators! Their lilting English accents can be heard at Gatorland on almost any given day.
This “Old Florida” attraction, unlike its so-called “cousins”–the theme parks which boast make-believe adventures–showcases the real Florida. In this way it has no relation to many other attractions in Florida.

Soupy Weather and Eggs Make Gator Aid an Adventure
Alligator Egg Harvesting
This writer was privileged to go along on the exciting adventure of taking part in robbing alligator nests of their eggs—with mama gator who knows where!
This is part of a program to prevent the possible extinction of these reptiles which assure a living for many in the alligator trade.

The Tale of the Rattler
“I hate snakes!” was the conviction of cinematic hero Indiana Jones. His sentiment regarding this reptile is that of many.
Before I did this feature on the rattlesnake, I was one who considered these “belly crawlers” with similar distaste. But, researching snakes opened my eyes. Now, I have a respect for them. I stay clear of them but try not to molest or harm them: They are part of nature and have an important role in Nature’s ecology. I have even been known to hold a non-venomous (of course!) snake with actual enjoyment, in the presence of the male of my species who absolutely would not! 😀
